This year is proving extremely successful! As well as inaugurating the Yurt, we had the very generous offer of a new minibus from Lord’s Taverners. Investec have provided half the funding and we have been actively fund raising to match their very excellent contribution of £21K. I am delighted to announce that we have reached our target, thanks to the support (yet again) of Westfield Health (£10K), with personal contributions, totalling over £7K (particularly from Edward Bunting, the Derek and Chris Bunting Foundation and Chris Moore) and further generous donations from the Sheffield Town Trust, the JG Graves Trust and Sheffield Vulcan Rotary Club (£2K, £1.5 K and £0.5K respectively). The minibus will soon be with the school and we will be having an appropriate launch celebration later this year.
Another major priority for us is to support the school’s Music Therapy Programme, and other recent donations will be used for this purpose. These include the proceeds from the excellent Worrall Male Voice Choir concert (held on our behalf), the Frecheville Methodist Church ‘Friends in Harmony’ evening and donations in memoriam (of Gary Brear), together with a contribution from this year’s Dore Well Dressing. These, together with sales from the Christmas DVDs, have raised nearly £1.5K, keeping us on track for the £3K we need each year to sustain our support of the Music Therapy Programme. These funds should be augmented by the proceeds from a Chamber Music Evening to be held chez les Greens (Stuart Green is our retiring treasurer!).
